EDITING 'A CHILD'S POINT OF VIEW': SCIENCE MUSEUM GROUP FILM

The film below was another in a series of commissions for the Science Museum Group and Network Rail, to record and celebrate the living exhibit that is the steam locomotive Planet. As I mentioned previously, at the time the railway line Planet ran on, was due to be severely shortened due to regeneration work to the surrounding city infrastructure. So the Science Museum Group in partnership with Network Rail was keen to create a series of short films about the train and exhibit.
Each of the films, there were six in total, had a different theme. The film below embraced a simple concept. What would a young child make of going on such a locomotive? I stuck to a very simple narrative following the child's sense of wonder and fun as she and her brother went for a ride on this steam train. It was also import to build the train as a character too.

The film has a very natural feeling and indeed was all shot in a documentary fashion, on very portable equipment. I offline and online edited this piece in Davinci Resolve. It has a certain charm to it. It is at once both honest and magical.

I hope you enjoyed this film and should you wish to contact me for editing work please don't hesitate to use the contact section in the left hand margin or call me on 07807 526 691. If you prefer email, my address is andyswarbrickeditor@gmail.com
