A QUICK WAY TO VIEW MEDIA FILE INFO....
There are now so many cameras and external recorders, file type, codecs and frame rates to edit with, often in the same timeline and project. Sometimes you just need to be able to find out a bit of info about the files you are working with in order to help yourself get organised. As an editor before you even think about editing and all the creative options available to you. Getting organised is vital.
I used to open files in Quicktime Player and then look at the 'movie inspector' window. There is a quicker way. I recently found a piece of software called MediaInfo. It can be downloaded at the MediaInfo Website here. I think that I got mine via the Apple Store. It is extremely cheap and I think for Windows free.
So don't take my word for it check it out.
